Wolf
We both walk over to the chest without wasting any more time before sharing a single glance and opening it.

Signet of the Undead | Item | Tier 9
Use of this signet ring will give the wearer a 30% immunity to all damage from the miasma element.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
My jaw drops open.
Okay, yeah, that’ll work very nicely.
I quickly reach out to grab the ring that replaces the words. The ring itself is very clearly a signet, with a bone dragon’s head roaring as the image on it. It has a very faint amount of black miasma lifting off of it, but the miasma seems to only be for aesthetics as it doesn’t actually hurt me, and as soon as it touches the floor, the miasma vanishes without a trace.
After spending a few seconds to admire the black and purple ring seemingly made out of obsidian and bone, I take off my gauntlets, followed by one of the random rings I had before putting this one on. Then I put my gauntlets back on again to cover the vast number of rings I have on my fingers.
“Now I’d be able to kill that dragon without the help if we had to,” I comment with a raised brow, to which Sapphire just snorts.
I chuckle at that before we both turn to face the exit which had appeared close to the other side of the room. A very fancy looking exit made out of bones and obsidian, just like the signet.
“Shall we go check out the next floor?” I ask Sapphire, and she nods and grabs my sleeve, as if afraid I’ll suddenly vanish or something.
Why do I feel like she’s treating me like I’m the one who died?
We walk over to the door before touching it, making a bright green light shine out from it, following which I immediately find myself along with Sapphire in some sort of strange dimension that has my stomach doing summersaults. A place that makes it very hard to figure out which way is up. Especially because all around us are floating platforms, floating landforms, and floating monsters. Not to mention the monsters on the landforms and platforms, and the monsters who are currently standing on the side or underside of those platforms.

“What the hell…” I mutter as I try very hard to figure out which way is up.
“This place makes me feel…” Sapphire mutters, sounding like she really wants to go back into my shadow, but she continues clinging onto my jacket sleeve anyways.
I continue looking around before focusing on the path in front of us leading further into the strange space. A path that is slowly twisting around, making the upside of the path slowly turn into the downside. “It’s messed up and confusing.”
She just nods her head at that.
And the monsters that I can see here are all quite high leveled.
_-| Unnamed – Rift Spawn – Level 2394 |-_
Or at least, they would be very high leveled if I hadn’t gained a couple dozen levels from killing that bone dragon. Now it’s only about ten levels above me.
Although I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be like that, if the notification at the start of this beta dungeon was anything to go by.
I narrow my eyes as I watch the strange creatures move around on the various platforms and landforms – some of which just look like bits of rubble floating in the air – floating all around us. The creatures all look very… eldritch? I guess that’s a good word for it. They all look different from each other despite being the same species according to the System. In fact, the only things they share are that most of them have tentacles, and none of them have a humanoid form.
Just all eldritch abominations in their own right.
Not something I’ve ever seen in the System Forums before either.
Are these things even in our universe…?
“Sapphire, get in my shadow,” I whisper, feeling slightly put off by the creatures. And she eventually does after some clear reluctance. But something in her eyes tells me she’ll be coming back out if she believes she has to.

Stubborn girl.
Despite that thought, I can’t help the smile that touches my lips at it as I control a small amount of voided eternal ice element to leave my body and snake around to one of the creatures. But the moment it gets within the atmosphere of the rubble it’s standing on, the creature – this one being some sort of mass of tentacles – starts writhing before a large mouth opens up and it straight up eats my voided eternal ice element.
My jaw drops open in shock.
“The fuck?” I mutter, only for the creature to turn towards me like it wants more.
Excuse me? That is not food.
I send a wave of ice towards the creature in an attempt to freeze it solid, but it just continues eating my ice. At least, it continues eating it until the creature begins freezing from the inside out.
Huh?
After the entire thing freezes into a statue and falls to the ground, I get EXP from it, making me wonder if it ate too much of my ice.
Do they all eat elements? Or was it just that one? And was my element just too potent for it?
What happened?
I stare at the corpse for a few seconds before jumping and passing through a void in space before getting pulled into the atmosphere of the rubble it was on where I then inspect its corpse. And after spending several seconds looking it over, I find that it really did just overload itself on my element.
Interesting.
Gonna have to investigate that a bit more. Although, it’s possible that all of these rift spawn creatures are different and this one was the only one that ate elements. Considering their varying appearances at least.
Very interesting.
I look around for a moment, only for my eyes to lock onto what looks like a flock of the same type of rift spawn heading my way. Just a random flock of floating balls of tentacles.
Wait, did its death summon friends?
That’s annoying.

The Dungeon Calls for a Sage
Archimedes was the ego behind one of the most powerful dungeons ever created. He grew and developed his halls, filling them with powerful monsters and beasts, over the course of thousands of years. He was a grand structure of ten thousand floors which even heroes had failed to defeat. However, an Evil God had come from another world, calling himself the Demon King, and a party of heroes were sent to do battle with it. Through their victory, they obtained enough strength to breeze through Archimedes' dungeon like it was nothing. Forseeing the end of his life, and realizing how pointless his pursuit of power had been, Archimedes destroyed himself, taking the heroes down with him. Still, Archimedes felt despair that he had lived a worthless life as something as pitiful and futile as a dungeon. Sensing his regret and potential, the voice of the world presented Archimedes with the chance to start anew and live a more meaningful life. Thrilled and hopeful for the first time in eons, Archimedes accepted the offer, only to be reborn again as a dungeon core with not a single room or monster to his name. Just what was the meaning of this?! Archimedes couldn't figure out what the voice of the world was thinking. Somehow, he would have to draw a sage into his dungeon to figure it out for him. _______________________ DCS is now a member of the WriTEr's Pledge, which means I have sworn to see it through to a satisfying end.
