《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 1014 City Life Part 11

Lin says "I guess that makes sense. It doesn't look like they need our help."
"I didn't come out here to help, I just wanted to see what was going on. Besides, I really did want some fresh air. We have been inside for days."
Lin says "Agreed. I have missed flying. This is nice."
Since we are both enjoying it, we don't head back even though the battle is over. Instead, I slowly fly around the city, just enjoying the wind and the scenery. We fly around for an hour before returning to the association's building.
Once we are back, we have lunch together and then return to the library. I don't know about Lin, but after the break I find my work on the spell much easier. Over the next few hours I make a decent amount of progress on it.
However, by the time we are ready for dinner the progress has slowed again. As far as I can tell, right now the spell should be about halfway complete. When I decide to stop for dinner I check over what I have so far and find a few problems.
They are only minor problems, but it takes me a bit to fix them without causing more issues. As soon as that is done I put my work away and leave with Lin to have dinner. When we enter the suite I notice that the crates of weapons are gone and there are no new ones.
That means I don't need to enchant any weapons tonight and can focus on my core. Lin and I have a relaxed dinner and then we cuddle for a while before I open the soulscape. After playing with the kids and watching an anime I end the soulscape and we go to bed.
Once Lin is asleep I enter into meditation and start working on my core. However, as I am working on it I notice that my speed has slowed down. It is almost like my core has changed and my methods are now less effective.

Unfortunately, I currently don't have any ideas of how to fix this issue. I probably need to improve my technique, after all I have been using the same method for ages. So I just keep working while I try to think of anything I can do to improve it, but nothing comes to mind.
Core Upgrade Progress: 27%
Lin wakes up and puts an end to my meditation, but I still haven't thought of anything. It is still early, so we have some fun for a while before ordering breakfast. As we are enjoying our breakfast, Almort arrives with an uncomfortable look on his face.
"Hi, Almort. What's wrong?"
Almort says "I've come because the council has a request."
"Alright, what do they want?"
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
Almort says "They want to host a ball in your honor tomorrow night."
Lin says "A ball?" as her eyes light up.
"Oh, no. Don't tell me that you want to go?"
Lin says "Why not? A chance to dress up could be fun."
"No way. The council probably wants to do this so that everyone who is bugging them can meet us. We will be hounded and pestered non-stop."
Almort says "I am afraid that Ash is right. Everyone, including the merchants, adventurers, and the few nobles in the city, all want to meet you two. It will be less of a ball and more of a zoo."
"With us being the only attractions."
Lin says "That does sound horrible, but I still think it would be worth it. I want to dance with you."
"If that is what you want, then we will go to the ball."
Lin says "Yay!" and kisses me.
Almort says "This is a surprise. I was expecting you to refuse. Do you need any help with something to wear?"

Lin says "No, I have a suitable dress. I don't know about Ash."
"I have a suit that should work, but it is sized for my beastman form. Can you help me alter it?"
Lin says "Of course I can."
"Then we should be good. Go ahead and tell them we will attend the ball."
Almort says "Alright."
Almort leaves and Lin immediately wants to see the suit I will be wearing. So, I dig it out of my pouch, where it has sat since I left the tower, and change into it. Since it was fitted to my beastman form, it is way too large for my human form.
Lin says "This is nice! It is way better than I was expecting."
"I don't think I want to know what you were expecting. Can you make it work?"
Lin says "Not as it is. I can't make the major changes needed while it is enchanted. Can you disenchant it?"
"Of course."
It takes me a few minutes to remove the enchantments from the suit and while I am doing that, Lin takes measurements. As soon as I am done she takes the suit from me and starts altering it. Of course, I could do it with magic, but doing it this way makes Lin happy.
Although, I think when I re-enchant it I will add some extra enchantments. If I am going to be a king, then I am going to need to dress up more often. So, I may as well make a suit that can be used as often as I need it and in any situation.
While Lin is working on the suit, I plan out the enchantments that I want to put on it. Yui made it from excellent materials, but it still will need more room for mana for what I want. So, I take out some mana rich silver and carefully turn it into a fine thread.
"Lin, while you are at it, can you add this to the suit?"
Lin says "Sure. I can use it to add some accents. Why?"
"It will increase the amount of enchantments I can add. I plan to make this the only suit I will ever need."
Lin says "Alright. That sounds interesting, I can't wait to see what you are going to do to it."
"How long do you think it will take?"
Lin says "Probably a couple of hours."
"Okay, I'm going to go borrow some books from the library. Then I will come back and keep you company."
Lin says "Okay."
I give Lin a kiss before I head down to the library and ask the librarians for what I want. In the end, I find ten books that talk about meditation and take them back to the suite with me. Then I sit down next to Lin, put the stack of books down, and start reading the first one.
The book talks about a completely different type of meditation from mine, but maybe I can learn something from it. Since I haven't had any luck thinking up a new way on my own, I am looking for inspiration. So, I read through the books while Lin works on adjusting my suit.
A couple of hours later Lin has me try on the suit before taking it back for a final adjustment. We take a break to have lunch and then an hour later she tells me that the suit is done. When I try it on I can't help but be impressed, the suit fits me perfectly.

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
