I initially scheduled book 3 to begin on May 29th, at this very time. I noticed that I had difficulties writing, so I planned to go down from 3 to 2 weekly updates.

You can guess from the fact you're getting a status update that even the plan didn't work that well. While I have a theoretical buffer of a dozen chapters, some are incomplete, there are inconsistencies everywhere, and it is still a massive mess because every time I re-read those parts, I realize other things need to happen.

Oh, and there are already two interlude-type full-size chapters (with more to come), and Johanna does an exposition of the Systems three times already (to different people each time, of course). And so far, they're going to leave the city they're in after doing a lot of talking and nothing else to move to a different one for politics (and of course, another System exposition because they have to, right?).

So, rather than release messy chapters, I'm officially placing the trilogy on hiatus until I finish an entire book 3 at least in draft form. I'm not expecting to achieve that until after August at least. I've tried writing something else to get my motivation back, and even a brand-new story is hard to write. So I'm going to plod through the whole plot, to make sure I have the entire final book there and hope that editing it into a better form will be easier and allow me to publish the final draft at a reasonable pace (basically, doing the book 2 treatment, but off-screen).

See you after the summer, and I apologize for the extended hiatus. The series should have been over already, and it's not going to be until probably November, if not December.
