《The Journey to find the New Golden Emperor》CHAPTER 122 **Better Than Nothing…**

When Sahara finally woke up, close to the time of making dinner, she found every five thousand people in a big area, some of them looking at her solemnly.
What happened?
Matthew told her that they were coming up with ideas on how to welcome back their future Emperor. Sahara walked out easily amongst the people, thinking, Matthew following closely behind, glaring at those who looked at his beloved in a strange way…He did not think in the least that his overprotective side was overreacting. Some glares were not nice to see at all!
“Maybe we could put a huge flag up?” Sahara asked, as though she was still thinking. A picture already was printed in her mind of a huge flag that could be seen from outside of the walls of Purple Haven!
That would be so cool! What a way to welcome someone back home!
“Flag?”
Sahara looked at who spoke the word and nodded, “Yeah, a white flag could mean surrender, so maybe we could do a purple flag. The colour purple can mean royalty and it’s…Purple Haven. Who would want to make a big, purple flag?”
The children put up their hands straight away, not having the courage to stand or voice out their wants, the ‘Matthew’ having scared them that much…Not only that, but the atmosphere was starting to change and even the children could feel it…
Sahara smiled and said, “Ok, the kids can do the flag! How is the palace doing? Is it built yet?” Sahara asked one of the males close by to her.
Not too many places had been ruined, but she couldn’t keep tabs on which places were good and which places still needed rebuilding or repairing! They had fixed the ‘Spirit Convert Association’ and a few noble homes and farms, but what else?
She never knew how these buildings had been destroyed like this…She still questions it but has come up with nothing…
One would have an idea…But had never come forward to say anything, as it wasn’t his fault!
When he had run away from someone trying to kill him, buildings had been in the crossfire…Or used to let out anger that the prey had gotten away…
“The palace was damaged only in two places, one of those places have been restored.” Another male stated.
Sahara nodded, “Then I will say this now, before Prince Seth has returned, we need to finish the second part of the palace and we need to understand who is left. What it is you know, so that Prince Seth can know about his people!”
It was time to start getting things under order and controlled with politics!
And Sahara…She hated it! But what she wanted to see, was smart, trustworthy people…As…She was sure that ‘politics’ could work rather well if people weren’t corrupted by it…
It really was just another sigh factor for her…
“I am originally from the Ron Family and will happily go back to my old position as a Minister!” One man stated…
And from there, there was a huge, loud ‘noise’ that continued for nearly ten minutes.
Sahara hated how people thought themselves as the world or thought they had what they hadn’t worked for yet!
Putting a hand on her tummy and her other hand to her head, she felt Matthew’s arms go around her and then his voice yelling out to the crowd to be silent…

Taking a deep breath, Sahara opened her eyes and said, “I am not going to single one person out. Each person will be checked to see if they can write, spell, count, cultivate, fight…Cook, farm…Or come up with ideas for improvement. I want all of you to remember what exactly a rulership is and who they would need to help them! If you are so ‘good’…” Putting out a few parchments from ‘storage’, Sahara continued, as the parchments went on a small table close by, “Write down what is important! Why must you be chosen? Why…And put your name on it!”
In a flurry, a good hundred people got up and then the rest followed suit, and some got a piece of parchment, whereas others had not and just left in another direction.
Sahara didn’t finish her sentence because she didn’t want to give too much away. Her obvious plan was to see if they understood what it was to be someone close to the emperor and how they could help the rest of the people. As it was, they should be a voice that the people need, and to also show to the emperor on what is going on in his Haven. A minister should be willing to go to the people and not stay in luxury. Although Sahara’s view of a Minister might be a bit different to a few other’s opinions, she was still open minded enough to let them all write down something about ‘why’ they wanted to be a Minister. Perhaps she may even find someone who knows better than she does…To be honest, she preferred people to teach her then her to choose upon her own type of factors. Upon reading those parchments, she told herself that she had to have an opened mind and be willing to read them all, all the way through.

Sahara only wanted people who understood the basic idea of a Minister to stand beside the emperor, anything else stated would be a bonus. But…Even if there was no selection like this, she would still do this, so that Prince Seth knows who is in his Haven!
The parchments ran out quickly and Steven had to run off to get some more, because Sahara didn’t have any left. She really was starting to run out of everything within her ‘storage’…Which really sucked in her opinion…
Luckily, there were some parchments still in some storage place that they had found upon three months ago, but even that was starting to run low…Soon, Sahara was thinking she would have to make some with her spiritual essence, which of course will be taxing, because it’s changing spiritual essence from one thing to another…
Matthew went through the parchments that people of Purple Haven had written on for Sahara, and easily stated what the people had written, and she easily stated in return whether they qualified or not to be thought enough to be next to the emperor or to be put elsewhere.
Sahara didn’t particularly want the power to decide, but who else was going to do it!?
Even if all her efforts of doing this go to nothing, at least something had been started, and what was written now can be looked at later…And, since she considered herself not even of Purple Haven and not favouring anyone in particular, she thought she could be fair and stay impartial, making sure that the people expressed what they deserved instead. Considering she kept an opened mind, Sahara tried to think of at least one or two positions that someone could do, having them written on the same type of parchment and making sure to keep every single one of them for later.

Some of them, Matthew didn’t even say out loud, as they seemed like they could count as threats to Sahara’s gender or the Haven that she’s from. Those parchments were of course burnt before Sahara could even know about them…
Matthew silently cursed the people of Purple Haven, wanting to remind them that this ‘female’ that they were threatening, gave them food and order. To him, they were being totally ungrateful to the work that his beloved had put into this Haven and that he was going to watch her even more closely now.
Otherwise, it wasn’t like Matthew wanted to take her role as the leader off of her, it was more to understand what she was doing. He hadn’t been in this position before, where the people needed to start anew, and she put things in simple terms for him to understand her plans better.
And, it wasn’t like Sahara had been in this type of situation either. But she had lived previously on Earth and had played enough types of games to lead a civilization, that she was able to do something…Instead of nothing…
In her opinion, things just don’t happen, as even Green Haven was probably like this at one stage a long, long time ago as well. A person needs to go ahead and start the procedure of making this better than it is now. As it was, most of the population was men and they were still quite wild because of the fall of Purple Haven.
So, now it won’t be just names, about who is left now, it will have names and a couple of ‘careers’ that each person could potentially do, perhaps their cultivation base or if they have been well behaved…She guessed it was the start of doing something like ‘census’ or ‘election’, where names are ticked off or what not. From now on, all this will most likely be stored for future reference and it’ll be the start of holding information…As…Who knows what happened to the old information…
It was still…Better than nothing…
Soon, Matthew got the idea on what she meant and continued the rest himself, but Sahara still had to get more parchments and brushes, for getting to know who could write, then to get more again, for those who could do math. So, using her spiritual essence, she made abacus’s, brushes and parchments.
Then, another was nothing to do with parchments, abacuses or brushes, but to think of an idea of what people could try to get improvements from, to see if they used their heads and thought…Basically to see if they could strategize...
Sadly, these ‘tests’ had to be at the same time at the moment, as time was starting to run out…Known to having more ‘tests’ later, people still weren’t happy that they had to choose which one to go to…But, Sahara had to see also, which one they did choose to attend first, as their ambition could show her how strong they could be in certain aspects. If one could not write well, but knew how to do math, if they tried their best even if their answers weren’t written well, it wasn’t like they couldn’t take a few lessons and they could teach it themselves…All things had to be considered, all their actions had to be considered and what they try and accomplish had to be considered…
It may not go down well with all of them, but this was a great chance for a ‘commoner’ born person to show their potential to try hard for what they want as a better ‘career’, so to have a better future…
It was going to be…A very long week!
It sucked that people who didn’t know as much, may have to be the ones that worked the hardest. Yet, Sahara wanted to find a way to compensate or equalize the difference. She wanted the people working in farms and as ‘house cleaners’, otherwise known as maidservants, to be just as respected. It wasn’t like they choose to be born a commoner, just like those who were noble, didn’t choose it either…But Sahara wanted to make sure that those who were unable to write, do math, fight, cultivate, or come up with ideas for improvements, knew that they still were very much needed and relied on. That they should know that their job was just as good as any other, if anything, maybe more important!
Obviously, getting food for the populace was a very important job and should hold others from being nasty to them just because the people who would bully would get to see the emperor or get to have a few followers because they are able to teach.
…There were just way too many people, with way too many ‘careers’ to fill and Sahara wanted to find people with the right talents for the right jobs before people will put each other into groups and start to bully each other.
Those who are good to teach, should be teachers, those who can use cultivation well with weapons, should be the cultivation workers for the blacksmiths. Those who are lazy or show that they are not interested and don’t show leadership qualities shouldn’t be in a job where others would have to count on them. If they perhaps see the error of their ways, they might be able to see that they could improve and perhaps become someone that people can count on in the future. But Sahara would state reasons if she were to write down that they were unreliable anyway…She was going to be as fair as possible, so if she were to write it, she needed to remember why and make sure she backed herself up so that Prince Seth knew that she wasn’t being biased.
There was…Too much to consider, and first and foremost, Sahara needed to find the people who are needed very soon. The ones to stand next to the Emperor, the Ministers, and they should be able to take over what she is now starting…Well, that was the plan at this current point in time.

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
