All eyes are on me as I shape the materials into a handheld scanner with a screen. Since it is a prototype it is a bit rough, but it is still something that they have never seen. As soon as the shape is right I enchant it with the detection spell and activate it.

When I activate the device a visible wave of light is emitted and then a few dots appear on the screen. I modify the enchantment a little so that it shows a 3D image to show height. Right now the screen shows three dots, the demon in front of me and two more below me.

"Hm, the range could be better, but if it is working properly there are two more demons in this building. Of course, I will need to go find them to verify if they are actually demons."

Emperor Amn says "Alright. I will send guards with you. Once you verify the demons, they will take care of them. Are you done with this one or do you still need it?"

"I am done with it."

With a slight motion of the emperor's hand, a dozen guards cut the demon into pieces. When I leave the room, twenty guards and Lyrica follow behind me. According to my scan there is a demon on the floor below us and the other is on the ground floor.

Taking the stairs down to the next floor I follow the signal to another suite. Entering the suite I find a dozen people who look like functionaries or something. Picking out the demon by their aura, I activate the spell again and the chains wrap around him.

The rest of the people in the room panic and quickly move away from him. The guards surround the demon and wait until his shapeshift ends once his power is drained. As soon as they see that it is actually a demon, they cut him apart without hesitation.

After that we take the elevator down to the ground floor, but it is a little crowded. There are a lot of people on the ground floor and they look nervous seeing so many guards all of a sudden. With them all moving around it takes me a minute to read the auras and spot the demon.

When the chains lock down the woman I pick out of the crowd the guards move. They quickly surround her and move everyone else back a safe distance. Still, they wait until the shapeshift breaks, just to be safe, and then they attack.

Leaving a couple of guards to deal with the mess the rest of us head back upstairs. When we return to the emperor's suite, the guards report to the emperor. While they are reporting, I am tinkering with the enchantments on the scanner.

Emperor Amn says "Congratulations, King Ash, it looks like your device works perfectly!"

"Well, it works. I wouldn't say perfectly, the range is still limited. Also, all these demons were low rank, I can't be sure it will detect higher ranked demons."

Emperor Amn says "It is good enough as is. I really want to clean the demons out of my empire. So, what do you need to make more devices and what would you like as payment?"

"All I need is some time and some basic magical metals. You don't need to worry about payment since the demons are my enemies as well. Besides, the amount of elves you have for me is already plenty."

Emperor Amn says "The suite next to this one has been prepared for your use. I will have the materials brought to you. Speaking of the elves, they are in the building next to this one. From what I was told you should have a way to move them quickly. You can take them right away."

"Really? I figured you would want to keep them until I finished my side of the bargain."

Empress Atesh says "That was the original plan, but you have shown yourself to be trustworthy. Consider this our show of good faith."

"Alright. I will relocate them first since it looks like you could use the extra space. Then I will spend some time crafting and leave the palace for last. That reminds me, did Shiro tell you that I need some special wood to make a staff?"

Empress Atesh says "Yes, she did. We have some ready for you, I just hope it is enough."

Emperor Amn says "Actually, I would prefer if you could deal with the palace sooner. The sooner it is gone the sooner construction on the new palace can begin."

"Alright. I will deal with the palace after moving the elves."

Emperor Amn says "Thank you. My commander will go with you to make sure no one causes you any problems."

Giving the emperor and empress a nod, I turn and leave with the commander and Lyrica. Once we leave the building, the commander takes the lead and shows me to the building the elves are in. The first thing I do once we enter is activate the scanner, which shows one demon.

Following the scanner, I enter one of the rooms and find that the demon is in the form of an elf. When the chains erupt and restrain it, the other elves in the room panic. Luckily, there aren't too many of them and they calm down a little when nothing else happens.

However, when the demon's true form is revealed they panic again, but for a different reason. After all, they have been living with this demon for a while, so it is understandable. Before I can do anything to the demon, Lyrica dashes forward and cuts its head off.

Once the demon is dead, the commander has the guards gather all the elves to the banquet hall. While the elves are being gathered, I send a message to Stillwater so he can prepare. I also check to make sure that there are no spy spells in the banquet hall.

When all the elves are gathered I open a portal back to the ship, but it takes some extra mana. The distance is a little problematic, but I still manage to open the gate. It just means that I should put a relay somewhere around here before I leave.

At first, the elves do not want to go through the gate, but Brightfire comes through to convince them. It saves me from having to play the bad guy and force them to go through. It still takes several minutes for all of them to go through and I almost run out of mana.

Brightfire gives me a wave once all the elves are through and then follows them. As soon as she is through I let the gate close so that I can start recovering my mana. Then I have the commander lead the way to the palace while Lyrica just follows me.

Luckily, I won't need any mana to deal with the palace since the stone is made from mana. All I need to do is complete the spell and let it take care of itself. I just have to hope that the spell Lin and I came up with works the way we want it to.
