《The hidden warrior》Chapter 23

Me and Jason were on our way out; everything was running smoothly. The mission was over 60% done. We managed to get the information needed, yet we still had the challenge of getting out of the country and back to Russia. Sooner to get rid of Jason, my debt and these feelings. Although i will miss theirs building. I've said it once and i'll say it again, this building and its structural integrity is one of the best I've ever seen.
As we were walking near the glass exit, without turning back, i heard a heavier tread of footsteps coming from around 40 meters behind us. I know Jason heard them as well, and we gave each other a knowing look. We needed to run. But that didn't happen.
Before i could even start my sprint, i was knocked down. I was covered in blood and glass. It seems that something hit the hit, which then ricocheted onto me. As my vision cleared from the blurry mess it was, i saw iron man with his hand outstretched, with blurry figures behind him, and i knew in that moment that my enemy had attacked me. Unbelievable. The avengers may say that they are the heroes, but they are really the villains. I mean how many lives have been lost due to their silly little missions? How many homes, cars, public properties and buildings destroyed? They cause more problems than solutions. They say that they protect everyone, but what about my mother? Where were they when she was killed? How many other families held onto their broken promises? Sure there are evil organisations around, but if the avengers really lived up to their expectations, there shouldn't be any. Fortunately for me, i know that the Red Room wants a fair and just world. One the avengers can't give. I know that we only kill bad people, and not innocents, unlike the Avengers. Also, there are still millions living below the poverty line in New York alone. What have the Avengers done for them?
The world would be better off without them, and I'll make sure of it. To avenge my mother, and the millions affected by their actions.
As i stood up, my whole body ached. I looked behind me to see the carnage. People were running, and there was a whole lot of dangerous mess. Do you see what i mean? They've just attacked me, and haven't given a second thought to the civilians around us.
As i look around, i realise that Jason has gone with the valuable information. I don't blame him. The informations mor important than us, but i would like to get out alive. Although there is a part of me that is a little disappointed at the fact he didn't stay and help me. I thought he actually cared about me, but i guess not. He left just like everyone else in my life. My dad, Peter, my mom and now Jason. Wow. This is my fight now.

And with that i attacked. My blood roaring in my ears. I was angry, and i needed to get my anger out on someone. I don't care what happens now.
I ran. I ran like a coward. Ema was there on the floor covered in blood, and instead of helping her i ran. I shouldn't care, I should be focusing on getting back to base with the information. We cant risk anyone else stealing this information. And i was explicitly told not to open the information on my own computer. Now you could suggest the me being the hacker I am, i could cover my tracks, but hydra had better hackers and the computer is linked to their systems. I can so much as try or I'll be caught.
My hands were raking through my slick black hair.I shouldn't be worrying like this, but i am and i can't stop. I couldn't go back, it was too risky and so i did the best i could in my situation. I was currently hidden between 2 dumpsters at the back of an alley when i got my computer out of my bag. I'd decided to hack into the surveillance of the Avengers tower, so i could see how she was holding up. No matter how much i liked Emma, my mission still stood as did hers. I can't be feeling like this. I value my life no matter how much my feelings for her outweigh my decisions. I'll check on her and if I couldn't help, i would have to leave. There's too much at risk, and with that my emotionless mask slipped on. The one i was famous for.
What I saw almost garnered an emotion out of me. There was nothing i could do. She was in her own. In the end, the mission was partly successful. I had the information, yet was missing a comrade. I knew that the superiors would be angry because Emma could be forced to talk. She could reveal the secrets of our organisations, and i knew that someone most likely would be sent out to either capture Emma back, or end her. It all depended on how much she spilled. If she said nothing, she should be fine, but if she did say anything, then she would be gone. There would be no use to her. The Avengers would have learnt about us, and she would be a traitor. Traitors are killed on sight. It was up to Emma now, and the chances were I would never see her again. No matter what happened to her. I would be punished when i got pack for not complete it the mission perfectly as would Emma if she was to return. But I doubt they would pair us again after an unsuccessful mission. And this is why you should never catch feelings. They never last or work out. Never.
And with that i phoned my superior to tell them that Emma was compromised, and that he needed the helicopter ASAP, and left.

They all saw her go down as the glass hit her. They also saw her team mate leave her at the first site of danger.
"What a teammate" Peter scoffed.
Everyone agreed that the behaviour wasn't very supportive, but that wasn't their focus. That was ana deed bonus that showed that Emma wasn't in a supportive environment like she would be with them. They keep Emma's mom upstairs in the penthouse, due to her distress and the fact she hasn't fought in over 15 years. It was the safer option. There would be less casualties that way, and more of a chance of success what experienced fighters; it seemed as if they were going to need it. Emma had recovered quickly and was facing them all with a deathly glare. This was to be expected though.
They were ready to fight. Nat had tried to get as many people away from the scene as possible, yet they drew attention to themselves by screaming and panicking. They were all fairly unharmed, except for the little push and shoved here and there from other civilians, and a bit of sparse glass that had barely scratched them unlike how it did to Emma. She was covered head to toe in blood. It was a miracle that she was still standing, let alone fighting.
Emma attacked Nat first. The rest scattered in order to find vantage points for themselves to attack. Everyone was under orders to restrain Emma and try not to hurt her. Everyone had syringes in their suits ready to knock Emma out if they got close en9ugh. That was the easiest and harm free way to capture her.
Emma and Nat were matched for most of the fight, even in her current state but Nat managed to kick her leg out from under her after they had been dodging each other's kicks and punches. Nat got the advantage by trapping Emma, but she was able to get out if it by moving her legs above her head and using the momentum to shove Nat off. Peter went next, attempting to web her but ultimately failing ass she kept moving in order to avoid most of them. Peter was multitasking trying to fight and web her and soon backed off for the others to try. He didn't want to give his 100% as he was too scared of properly hurting her. They didn't want to use Tony's blaster, or caps shield but instead their fists. Wanda also didn't want to use her powers after seeing her young life with out her mom, alone. She wanted to respect her privacy as much as she could. And so she didn't use her powers in case she saw more of her memories. She just stayed behind a little. Especially since Emma wasn't an adult Wanda didn't feel right invading a kids mind purposely. And she was positive the rest could restrain her anyway.
Tony decided that enough was enough and told everyone the plan through their joint headsets
"Right we need to try and creat a perimeter around her, so that she cant escape. We then move in closer, until on of us are close enough to sedate her. Is he tries to escape the circle, just push her back in. You are going to have to be forceful"
Everyone agreed to that and started the plan. Everyone began to gather closer from wherever they were. If that was from the doors or above tables. They stared to surround Emma. She didn't know where to look. Wherever she looked, she was unprotected behind her. She met everyone's eyes. She knew these eyes from the tv's and enemy signs in the Red Room. She knew all for heir face features very well. She knew she was stuck but still had a card left to play.
Emma withdrew her gun and pointed it at Peter. She hated him for what he did, and what best revenge than this? To say she was shocked when she remembered him, and saw his face as Spider-Man in the base, was an understatement. She was so angry. He kept a major secret from her. His "supposed best friend" at the time. She told him many of her personal secrets yet he didn't put int he same effort. It broke her, as he was the first person she truly trusted.
All would be forgiven by Madame B if she returned to abuse after killing an Avenger. They had the information, and a full house of members returning. Her and Jason. She knew he was safe. I mean why wouldn't you, if you ran off?
If she had an Avengers at gunpoint, the others wouldn't dare attack. They were all trying to talk her out of it,and to put the gun down but she wasn't having any of it. She was ready. She pulled the safety off, and held it in such a firm grip her knuckled were turning white. She had blocked everyone else out, except for Peter's face. He looked scared, as he should. There was tears running down his face. She had no remorse. She didn't care, just like he didn't care about her when he left.
The Avengers saw enough. They couldn't talk her out of it. She had the upper hand with a weapon. The gun looked different to a normal gun. There was something special to it. And with that hat Steve tackled her to the floor.
As she pulled the trigger, she was tackled. She couldn't tell who tackled her, but she smiled as she saw blood. She had done it. She would be forgiven. She had hit a target. And with that her vision went, and she succumbed to the darkness.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
