I came home from school to Dad pacing the flat, which was unusual for him, since he normally just straight up worries about shit, so I was extra worried about what was bothering Dad, because it was taking an extra toll on him.

"Hey Dad, are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm ok, what makes you think I'm not ok Sweetheart?"

"Well you're pacing the flat like a mad man would Dad, that's usually the sign that something's wrong"

"(Sighs), I'm ok Baby, I'm just stressed is all"

"What's making you so stressed though Dad?"

"(Sighs), it's me stressing over nothing Sweetheart, so you're not to worry about it"

I just gave Dad a look, since there's times where he's so stressed that he doesn't think straight, well not that he's straight in the first place but you know, thinking straight does help sometimes.

"I'll believe that when pigs fucking fly Dad"

"You know Sweetheart, theoretically somebody could've brought their pet pig on an plane and therefore a pig could've already flew"

"Dad, that's not what I meant and you know it, you smart arse"

"Sure Bambina, whatever helps you sleep at night-"

"But I don't sleep though"

"Oh haha, very funny, where's Mikey and Soph?"

"Mikey's playing football with some of his mates and Soph's around a friends house studying"

Translation: Mikey's playing football with some older kids and Soph's at a boy's house while he fucks her bloody brains out, (not literally).

But it wasn't my place to tell Dad about it, so I covered for them as part of our sibling pact, (well mostly Soph, actually Sophie especially because you know, she could've gotten pregnant), but also I wasn't going to be the one that made Dad even more stressed, ya know.

"Where's Papa?"

"He's gone to the shop for dinner, he'll be home in a minute or two"

"Ok, do you want a cup of tea?"

"Sure Sweetheart"

So I walked to the kitchenette and put the kettle on, once it had boiled, I let the teabag do it's thing and eventually I had finished making the teas and gave Dad his tea.

"Thank you Buba"

"You're welcome Dad"

"How was school today?"

"It was school, nothing interesting happened"

"(Snorts), that's a good thing Baby"

"Well no Dad, I was bored all day"

"I would've rather been bored than have seen some of the shit I saw in my day Sweetheart"

"If you're talking about the fact that Uncle Lee was the nurse that you went to when you didn't want to snitch or something like that, I actually wanna know"

"No, your Uncle Lee was the tamest of things that happened in my time?"

"Tell me the goss"

"No"

"Why not?"

"Because most of the things that happened involved me and I don't want to set a bad example"

"Dad, I won't do whatever you did"

I was wrong, not because I purposely did it out of spite, but because I had already done it.

"Alright, it involves the girls bathroom on the 3rd floor-"

"Oh, you had a threesome in there"

"How did you figure that out?"

"Uh, well, I may or may not have had one in there-"

"Oh shit, I really dropped myself in it, didn't I?"

"Yeah you did, with who?"

"Nah, it's option C, which is that I think that you both act and sound like an old man sometimes, especially when it comes to me"

It looked like my Dad was about to lecture me about something, but then instead he started a different conversation thread.

"It's not too much for you to deal with Sweetheart, is it?"

"No, it just means that you care about me-"

"Am I that mean-"

"No!, you're not mean!, because you do a lot of little things for us to show us that you care, like you plait my hair for me a lot when I was younger because I didn't like ponytails, even though you knew that there nothing in my wardrobe when I was younger, you still got a rounders bat and checked it out for Monsters-"

"Honey any Dad would do that"

"They should do that, but a lot of Dads don't do half the things you do on a daily basis"

"I was also both parents to you at one point Buba"

"True but I still appreciate you and I love you"

"I love you too Baby"
